A view
of Barton Abbey from St Mary the Virgin's churchyard. Barton Abbey
is the 'big house' of Steeple Barton, although its name is misleading
as it has never been an abbey.
The house
is in part 16th century but substantially Victorian, it was rebuilt
and named by the Halls, the brewing family.
Since
1925 Barton Abbey and its estate have been owned by the Flemings.
Church fetes are still held in the grounds of the 'big house'.
